My phone has been recording two calls per week from Eircom for the past 6 or 7 weeks. Usually one about 10 a.m on a Monday and one later in the week. Today I decided to answer the call from a sales person from Eircom. The initial blurb was that this was a "courtesy" call but immediately launched in to offering their broadband services. (I have my phone line from Eircom but my broadband from B.T.). When I asked this lady to stop pestering me she said that I would have to ring another number to stop her from ringing me? Does the fact that I am a customer from Eircom allow them to cold call me whenever they want under the guise of a "courtesy" call?

It looks as though they can according to:-

Note though that it says that a reputable company should honour your wishes so you would need to try to progress the matter in Eircom.

I have had this for the past few weeks. i am an eircom customer and they ring me about 3 times a week . i answer and say please dont call me again. they keep calling me . i tell them not to and the lady says that i will have to call some number i think 1901 or something to get taken off the list. i didnt get time for the same reason i didnt have time to talk to them ..they called again the next day and i told them if they called me again i was going to cancel my account with them and go to talk talk (carphone warehouse) ...they havnt called since!!!

I had the same problems last summer (at the time I had an eircom line and phone calls via Chorus), and despite telling the caller that I didn't want another call, they kept on coming! Even had a person at the door one evening!
I sent a complaint (via the eircom website if I remember) and said that if I received one more call, I'd switch providers immediately....the calls stopped funnily enough! (then I switched anyway!).
SlurrySlump, do you pay eircom for your line rental or do you pay BT for the lot? (I'm a BT customer with broadband and only get one bill from them, nothing from eircom). I ask because there's an option on the BT website to opt out of all cold-calling - which all companies are supposed to honour.

I had that exact same problem with eircon about 2 years ago with several cold callers calling to my front door in the evening time when I was in the middle of dinner over a period of 6 months and even though I had complained about it each time. It didnt stop despite their promises . The latest one called at 9.30 pm.
I got them to stop through sheer persistance and they said if I had any further problems to call this number :

1800 503 303

Maybe it still works ?
