A direct debit of E9.95 a month for 'Accidental Death Cover' is being taken from the credit card of a recently deceased relative. The family want to stop the payments so they can close the account.
The only documentation they can find refering to 'Accidental Death Cover' dates back to 2002 (also E9.95 a month) - it's from Stonebridge International Insurance Services (underwriters?). There's a reference at the bottom of the document to Bank of Ireland Insurance Services.
The family rang BoI Insurance about it but they said they had no record of the relative's name/address. Stonebridge (the UK sister company of AEGON Direct Marketing Services) are advertised on the BoI website, but this BoI person didn't seem to know anything about them. She said to ring BoI credit cards to find out where the payment is going but they said all that is showing up is 'Accidental Death Cover', with no company name.
Stonebridge's website redirects to AEGON. The family got a phone number from it but an unhelpful chap said he had no record either of relative, although he gave the impression he didn't look too hard. They're going to ring back again tomorrow.
Any tips on how to get this blasted thing sorted out? Thanks.
