Repair to leather couch

I have an old couch with a hole in it, the thread has come loose and needs to be resown. Is this possible and is there a cheap way of doing it? I don't mind if the repair is obvious but I don't want the stuffing coming out. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could get a kit and sew it back together myself and if so, where would I get it? Thanks

You could try asking for advice in Hickeys or Trimmings who are at the junction of Liffey St and the Ha'penny Bridge.

You need a particular type of needle to sew leather and a very heavy duty thread. Hickeys used to sell both. There's a place on Dawson St. that sells all kinds of everything for craft work. They might be a good bet.

i had a flyer posted through my door advertising a company that can fix such things. I'll dig it out and post the details later.
Are you based in Dublin?

I have very successfully repaired leather goods in the past with nylon monofilament fishing line and a good strong (fairly blunt) needle. The line is incredibly strong and provides a good match on most leathers....
