Any way to stop sales/charity people calling to my door trying to sell stuff/ sign up

Hi, Quick question. does anyone know if theres any way to stop people calling to my door trying to sell me things/sign up for stuff. I always say no straightout but its amazing how many continue to talk even after i've made it clear i'm not interested.
Get a few a week and getting sick of it. If i want to buy something i will and if i want to give money to charity i will.
 
I seen a sign on a freind's office door which said "Ticket seller/collectors and salespeople will be shot. Survivors will be shot again" . It seemed pretty effective.
 
Down load a picture of a rothweller and print caution dogs get it laminated and stick it on wall or in lawn I have 2 signs but we have the rothweller running loose.
 
Join up a charity that would like to support and next time the sellers/collectors come calling - get your retalition in first and ask them to support your charity!

You could disconnect your bell and/or put up a little sign saying 'Callers by appointment only'. If you do inadvertently open the door to a salesperson you could say, I'll stop you there, we have a POLICY never to give or buy anything at the door.
 
My grandmother has a good policy on cold callers to her door: "I'm neither buying nor selling, thank you".
