We have about 8-10 days hols at end of May. Would love to do 3/4 days in vegas and finish in NY. Anyone know who provides these packages.flights etc.Presume would need to fly to LA and then onto Vegas.Appreciation in advance

Doing the same trip later this year, but personally, I haven't found the travel agents competitive. If you're up to doing it yourself, try the following:

1. Flights: Delta.com seems to be the most competitive for that kind of trip at the moment. If you do a "multi-flight" option on their website, from Ireland (Dublin or Shannon), on to JFK, then on to Vegas, and return the same way, your flights should come in at 750-800.

2. Accommodation: start off with hotels.com (check the reviews on tripadvisor.com) and price your hotels in Vegas and New York. Then try the website of your chosen hotel - you might get an equal or better price. Finally, call them directly and validate everything - you might even get a better deal over the phone. For Vegas, stay on the Strip, south end (near MGM). It's the better end for first timers. For Manhattan, there's lots of hotels in the Midtown region (there's another thread on this about where is best to stay in NY). Target $130 or so for your room in Vegas, and $200 in NY to get a reasonable standard.

We have used Trailfinders () in Dawson St., but, now prefer to save money by booking our own flights on the internet and picking hotels after reviewing them on It takes a bit of effort, but, sitting at a PC on cold Dublin nights with a glass of wine makes it easier! We would recommend the Embassy Suites in NYC if you are on a reasonable mid-range budget, especially if travelling with kids. Haven't hit Vegas yet... heard it's great! Enjoy!

I done this trip in Feb this year...The other way round is better, Vegas Last (You dont have to worry about your money in Vegas then LOL.)
Continental do flights from Dub to NY & NY to vegas fairly reasonable.

I am flying the same route with Delta in November; Dub to JFK to LAS to DUB; cost me €595 in total including taxes. Having said that, I have booked it months in advance (obviously!!!) and I don't think November will be everybody's cup of tea; still warm in Vegas but starting to get cold in New York.

Good accommodation is easy to come by in Las Vegas at really good prices if you shop around through different websites. Can't say the same for New York though.

The key to booking both these places yourselves is research. No better place than - I never book anything without hitting there first.

For hotels, we use www.hotwire.com and both opaque sites. You pay before your hotel is revealed but you select your location and star rating (for safety opt for 4 star or above, there are some turkeys in 3 star) and we've struck gold everytime.

eg in New York Hyatt Grand Central $120 per night ($250 advertised rate) or Barclay Intercontinental New York $189 (advertised rate $299). We've also scored the Venetian in Vegas for $120 a night through these sites.

For hotel this site is great www.hotelcomparisons.com

I came across a very good tip on AAM recently when someone mentioned that you are better off booking the hotel direct after you have checked and confirmed prices etc. The reason for this is that you can cancel most hotels up to 24 hours before travel if someone gets sick or whatever. With some of the hotel booking sites their terms and conditions insist that you give a few weeks if not a months notice. You can lose a deposit or full payment

For flights you could check out this key post.

Try running the search option in this forum only and you will get many previous threads on NY in particular. Some threads mentioned recently that it is cheaper to do up a package yourself but be prepared to spend a lot of time on-line.
