Affordable Housing with Fingal Co Co

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

We are on the list since last May.

I think what Fingal Co Co try to do is match up your offer to where you are living at the mo.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi Rach ,phoned fingal on wednesday,, they said there have been alot of delays with the builders and that they keep going off to emergency calls,,,looks like it will be a goodwhile before were in ...

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Does anybody know what the plans are for the land in front of the apartments? Looks like the house near Kettles Lane is no longer inhabited - will that be redeveloped? Did everyone choose fixed interest rates?

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

I got my approval in the post this morning, after them saying last week that there was no update!
I am changing my job and getting a substantial salary increase, though I will still be under the threshold. Should I ask Fingal to reassess my case or is it better to leave it as it is?

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi Purpeller,

that happened to me a few weeks back. I changed my job and was on a higher salary so I called them and they said to send in my new payslips, a copy of my contract stating my salary and they updated my file with the new info.

so, yeap let them know.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Read in Northside People some weeks ago that planning permission has been granted for commerical units on Kettles Lane ????

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi,,, when we went to view kettles lane we asked them about the proposed land for sports ground and leisure facilitys and were told by one of the sales guys that the guy was looking for planning permission for commercial units instead....dirty monkey

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

I have been offered a duplex apt with Fingal and I have been told that I need to get an engineers report and a snag list. Do I really need an engineer and if so do you know roughly how much this will cost?

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi everyone, this is my first post

I've just recently moved into my house which i got through Fingal's Shared Ownership Scheme.
I applied in December 2005 and got my letter of approval in January 2007. Heard nothing until May when I was asked if I wanted to view apartments in Cityside in Finglas (?). As a few other people have mentioned, I didn't actually get to view them as I was too far down the list.
Heard nothing until August when I got a call to view houses in Tyrrelstown. Went along, told them the one I wanted (you give them your prefrence and if nobody above you on the list wants that one they put your name down while you wait for your final loan approval).

I found them very helpful, the lady I was dealing with was very nice and always responded to emails/calls.
One thing to note is that they do take your savings record quite seriously, I'd had to dip into my savings to have some repairs done to my car, and I had to get a receipt from the mechanic to verify this before they would approve the final loan.

The only problem I did have was when it came to doing the snag. Was waiting a good four or five weeks for the builders to do the work, and when my builder came back to do the second snag report, most (in fact, none) of the repairs had been done. So that delayed things quite a bit, but it all got sorted in the end and I moved in about 2 months ago.

I got a 2 bed detached house for €150,000, deposit of €7, 500.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Congrats, feebee. Well done on your new home, sounds very good value at 150k.

And thanks for letting us know.

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Congrats, k150 is brilliant.
Is the shared ownership and affordble housing linked?? Do they decide which option is best for you at your interview or do you apply for this scheme separately?

If u cant afford the deposit which can be 10-20grand (it can also be less about 8) u go on the shared ownership route in which u own a %age of the place with a view to buying the rest at a later date. I hope some more letters come tru the post, this waiting game is horrible. Does anyone know where will be offered next. Ive herd holywell mentioned. Any know if holywell have still some to places coming online soon??

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi dancin,
did you have many problems on your snag list.
we were told it takes 4 weeks to complete the
lists. we faxed ours in on the15th of jan, so its
supposed to be finised next week. we rang fingal
for an update and they said there had been some delays
with the builders so it looks like the 4 weks is out the window

Re: Affordable Housing with Fingal

Hi Chelk, just wondering if you've heard anything at all about your house? Has your snag list been completed or are you still waiting?
