Hi,

got vouchers for a tv place in cork and was looking at the following tv

32PF7331/12 it has been reduced from €1200 down to €1000 is this a good buy?? I have been trying to look for reviews for the TV but can't find any

http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/en/gb/consumer/tv_gr_gb_consumer/flat_tv_ca_gb_consumer/lcd_large_30_40_su_gb_consumer/ce/_productId_32PF7331_12_GB_CONSUMER/widescreen_flat_TV+32PF7331_12?proxybuster=5RLB0JTN5UP2TJ0RMRESHQVHKFSEKI5P&activeTab=specifications (this is the link from philips website)

any help very much appreciated

€1000 sounds high for a 32" LCD (unless it's an Ambilight model). Shop around.

Sandy 2004 - I am also from Cork and not sure what shop you went to but Dwyers Electrical is good based on the experience I have had with them

I have the exact one also and bought it for 899 last year also. 1k is not a deal. id say they are less than 899 now!

Ok I think we have accepted that they are less than 1k but can anyone answer the other question - What are they like ?

Also looking at buying one so interested in feedback

Pretty hard for the OP to shop around when they have vouchers for a specific store in all fairness!

ooooh sorry !

I have a Samsung 26" also and it is FAR FAR superior if I compare them.

Good point-but no harm in looking at other models in the same shop I guess.

There is also the option of selling the voucher for, say, €950 and buying the same TV for €899 (or similar) elsewhere?

yep pretty hard to shop around!!

but I will probably get it for less than €1,000,i know the guy inside there but just wonder as a tv what is it like??

I've got that exact model, very happy with it, lovely TV. I don't have enough technical knowledge to be able to advise you if the spec is top class or not but as a regular viewer I really like it.

Hi Sandy

We have just bought that model too - so far it's brilliant, very clear picture and good sound. Like DangerMouse wouldn't know technically if it's better than others but we love it anyway...

Could you provide some comparitive metrics for this statement? Do you own both? Or are you comparing your optimised Samsung with an in-store Philips with default factory settings?

Samsung LCDs are very good but so are Philips LCDs.

I own an Ambilight Philips LCD TV and it is the bees knees.

This range is more expensive than their entry level range, but the more affordable range also get good reviews in AV circles.

I have the Philips 32 LCD, great picture, sound good too. Only had one problem where I turned it on one day and no picture, just sound, got out the manual and said to unplug it for 60 seconds, it did the trick. Hasn't happened since but it's in the manaul so I guess it's a running problem. I'd go with a different make if I were u as if your gonna spend that amount on it (hind sight is great!!!!)
