Hi Folks,

I have a pretty old home pc (packard bell iConnect 1300) which is slowly grinding to a halt. I intent to replace this with a new model and I will need to copy information accross when I get sorted out. I don't know if the dvd drive in my old pc has the facility to burn information to cd's as I have lost the instructions manual. Is there any way of looking up this information on the pc and if so what should I be looking for which would indicate that I can burn cd's.

Thanks

this image on the front of your cd crive is all you need

you should be able to just 'drag & drop' files onto the drive thru Windows Explorer.

Re: CD-RW, not DVD-RW Drive

I've edited your thread title for clarity.

I presume your PC doesn't have USB ports. Your DVD drive probably does have CD-burning — look for the tag, as Pique318 has said, or got to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware and open the Device Manager, then right-click on the CD-ROM/DVD drive to display its properties. If it says 'RW' anywhere in the label, it'll do the job.

Thanks folks,

I have checked the tag and it does say Recordable ReWritable so I should be ok on that score.

I particularly like [broken link removed] because it's small and does exactly what it says on the tin with no bloatware.
