Should I switch from Zonealarm to a hardware firewall

We recently got always-on bb. Up to now I've had ZA installed on everything but now we tend to leave the machines on casually, unattended for periods - and of course always connected.

Should we be thinking about a hardware firewall sitting between the router and our machines? Some glitches with ZA requiring it to be disabled to log on to the first site of the day, then re-enabling it (subsequent page changes seem to be fine) is prompting me to worry about the potential risk of continuing with this....

Advice appreciated...

Most broadband routers have some sort of firewall built in. No harm in enabling this and also running ZA - especially on laptops that might be connected to other networks from time to time. Having to disable and reenable ZA to log onto a website sounds wrong and merits investigation to understand what the issue is.
