how long does planning permission last

if i apply for planning permission now and its granted in 3months time,can i hold off on the work until 2008/09? or would i have to re apply after a certain ammount of time....

Usually yes, PP is usually granted for 5 years (although I imagine this varies from authority to authority).

As far as I know, pp lasts for 5 years but you have to have a certain amount of work done at this 5 year stage. In Carlow - up to roof level.

Agreed. Providing that it is full PP and not OPP.
