renualt senic problem

hi,
i have a 1998 renault senic 1.6 petrol,the problem is the tickover,sometimes it cuts out everytime i stop at traffic lights ect,and sometimes it ticksover way to fast,or going up and down all by itself.
if anyone else had this problem i would be most greatfull for any advice.

or possibly an ignition coil
 
Two words of advice on your nine year old Renault :

1)Sell
2)Quickly
 
I think aphrodite has been stung with a renault. Am i right? I have a 2002 scenic 1.4 and have replaced an ignition coil at 75,000 miles. I subsequently left off the fancy pants cover that goes on top of the engine. I felt it would let cool air to the tops of the coils and DELAY the burning out of the rest...
I havent looked yet but i doubt the honda forums have much in them. I wonder why?

Although it could always be something fairly innocuous - idle control valve sticking? Sounds like it to me it's not an uncommon problem and very easy to fix.
