Munich for stag weekend

Organising a stag weekend in Munich for later in the year.
Can anybody recommend a decent hotel central to everything - we want to be able to walk/stagger to/from the pubs and clubs.

We're not looking for anything too fancy but nothing too skanky either

Don't know the city at all so hotel addresses mean nothing to me!

If anybody could even recommend landmarks to stay near to it might help

I was there in September but can't be much help.
The centre is called Marienplatz so somewhere near there is probably your best bet. We stayed in a Marriot hotel which was was fine. There are some nice bars/restaurants in and around this Marienplatz area and there's a sort of self contained stadium area about 10 minutes in a taxi away called Kultfabrik which has loads of bars, nightclubs and strip-clubs.
To be honest all I did was work, drink in the hotel, go to that Marienplatz place and to the Kultfabrik place so I didn't exactly broaden my horizons too much.

Not being smart - just suggesting a practical solution to familiarising yourself with the city and addresses. Take it or leave it.

I can now take an educated look at a map and locate a hotel near Marienplatz or Kultfabrik.
Would have been pretty pointless without your very gracious assistance

My suggestion is that location doesnt matter a whole lot in Munich. The transport system is so damn good that your never far away from Marienplatz or anywhere in the city. They have a truely integrated transport system (buses/ underground/s bahn (express urban rail)/trains/trams - all link up with each other) - and they run relatively late (& later than usual on fri/sat).

Just look for a good deal on a hotel and don't worry about location.

I can recommend the marriott - about a 10 min u-bahn trip away form Marienplatz (their underground). It's in the business district. Very nice hotel and always good deals going.
 
If you are going there in October. There is a big beer festival on in October and the place is just bussing. Just Google Beer Garden Munich and you will plenty of info. Great Crack!!! Enjoy.
