I want plant a new lawn this year as the one that is there is very unlevel and covered in moss and weeds. Before starting digging and rotivating I understand I need to kill off everything in the garden.
Can anybody recommend a brand of spray that will kill everything in the garden, existing grass included.

If you have any tips on where to buy it, woodies, b&Q etc. that would be very helpful.
Thanks a lot,

roundup is the best in my opinion. i use it a lot to kill off grass. takes a few weeks to show results mind, but it kills at the root which most of the others don't do. you can get it in any hardware shop.

If you use Roundup, do you have to wait for a period of time before replanting?

As you can see from my other threads, were planning a complete lawn replant too and I also need to level the garden.

How does using something like Roundup not leave the garden sterile? I was afraid to use a product like this and was going to flip sods upside down annd leaving them for a couple weeks to kill the grass before rotivating, but this sounds like a much better solution.

Roundup is neutralised when it comes in contact with the soil - it kills what it is sprayed on ie the weeds absorb the weed killer. I used Roundup a few months ago to kill off grass where I am going to sow a hedge - it takes a few weeks for the full effects to be seen but it will kill everything it lands on.

Anyone got any organic solutions?, more or less the same issue as the OP but want to plant veg. Would prefer not to pollute the soil

Thanks in advance
