When will the General election be held?

I am a bit of an election freek. (i know sick isn't it) but there is nothing I like better then experiencing the pre election fodder and then watching the results coming in on TV.
My problem is that I am trying to plan a foreign holiday in May but I do not want to miss the election. I missed the last "local" elections in the same circumstances.
Can anyone hazerd a guess as to when the faithful day might be?.

A few "experts" reckon May 18...but this is Bertie we're talking about, probably will be good Internet coverage in this day and age anyway

Bertie is holding off until the boffins in FF HQ perfect the PJ Mara operated weather machine...then we'll see real electoral strategy!

Our Bertie who art our Taoiseach...
Alternatively - our Taoiseach who is the Bertie ! - Boy !;)

I'm guessing April or May, just by the way they're rushing legislation through the Dáil now (late night and Friday sittings). Bertie won't let it go all the way til June. Too many people on holidays then.

I'm very dissappointed now. You all obviously do not take your politics serious. I love my Country and Bertie. uummmmm.

well, first the TD's have to have their Patricks day bash abroad at our expense, - that'll take about 10 days, then there'll be mad rush in the Oireachtas to get the bills with the TD's names on them (think of the publicity, people! )rushed through before the easter break (bear in mind, dail only sits 3 days) that'll take them up to Easter holidays, and sure, there's no point in going back to work of trying hopelessly to improve the country after easter cos it's nearly time for the summer break,

so: it'll be immediately after the easter holidays...

and so we'll have no parliament from beginning of easter to end of october.. a mere 6 months...but the politicians will get paid for ALL that time off - at our expense..

any takers?

Either before the quarryvale module, or after they have successfully thrown a spanner in the works that will delay it. Maybe a row with barristers about payment levels would delay it long enough, with the added bonus that it might fool the punters into thinking that they were trying to save money!
