My zafira is blowing out cold air , just wondering if it could have anything to do with water which I put into the car, the car temperture gauge on the dash board gets high after about a week so I keep the water topped up every week, if not car over heats,

Re: Heater in car no t giving heat

Could be a fuse...check the manual for where the fuse for the heater is located.

If you have to top up the system every week you have a leak.

If the system went low you could have an air lock in the heating system.
You will need to locate the air vent screw in the heater circuit and release the trapped air in order to get hot water flowing in the circuit again.

Also if you have a leak you need to get it repaired ASAP. If not you could overheat your engine and blow your engine head gasket ( Big money to repair ).

The hot water from your engine is used to heat the car via a small radiator or heater matrix. If the water isn't getting to that or it is leaking then that may be causing your problems. Check any pipes in the engine for leakage.

Thanks you are spt on , when I fill up with water the heater works great, so must be a leak, so now do I check pavement where car is parked to se any wet spots

i hope you find an obvious leak cos if you dont it means your head gasket is gone which will cos you a packet to fix. check your oil filler/dipstick for "mayonnaise". if you find some id get it looked at immediately before the damage gets any worse

With the cold spell upon us as well you should be topping up with an antifreeze mix.All good news eh?

I agree with the previous posts - get it checked as soon as you can.

My heater packed in recently - also noticed when I started from cold the engine "shuddered" a bit and a bit of smoke came out the back. It seemed ok if the engine was revved a bit and when warm - drove perfectly then. Also check if you rev it high that there is no water coming out the exhaust.

My cylinder head had a crack in it so I have an expensive bill coming up for repairs. :-(
