Currently have a 1997 Fiesta 1.25. Recently got the front two shock replaced (one was leaking) for the NCT.

There is still a clonking noise from the front suspension esp. over ramps etc (noise was there before replacement shocks-put it down to the busted shock).

Anyway someone mentioned to me that it could be the bushes are gone? Is this a DIY job or garage jobby?? and what am i looking at cost wise.

more than likrly its your front antiroll bar bushes or links these are very common on fiestas not very expensive either

Just did a bit of looking myself , jacked the car up and for some reason the passenger shock can be pushed up by the wheel very easily (new shocks only fitted 2 months ago) ! (driver side doesnt seem to move)

Anyone know if there is a rubber bush that can waste away between shock and engine compartment mount?

Sound like you have a burst shock, Go back to the garage and you'll get parts warranty on the part provided you haven't hit anything with it and you'll pay for nothing. The shock mountain or saddle wouldn't really affect the shock going up easy.

The actual shock itself seems perfect, its something lose at the top - like a rubber spacer or something.

Sorry Darando your not making a whole lot of sence, If the you can push the wheel up like that it would be the shock, If say it was noisy when driving it could be the front link, Anti-roll bar bush or saddle but the shock would remain stiff and would not push up easy by hand. The saddle is the rubber and metal housing at the top of the shock and stops the shock comming through the valance. You would be able to see it when you open the bonnet.
