Anyone haveing trouble logging on, i just keep getting server cant be found. thanks

A new version was just released (think. v1.5.0.9) maybe an update might work.
I know u need to start mozilla to update but try a manual.
Also check your homepage setting, it might only be that, have you put in different addresses? like google or something.
tools-->options try changing to google.ie ,maybe.

does i.e work? What firewall are you using? The firewall could need reconfiguring to allow firefox to work.

I don't understand how the link could work if you couldn't acess the internet in the first place!!! Please explain the procedure you used

I suspect this might be the same problem as I had a couple of weeks back when I upgraded my son's PC to the latest version of Firefox - it gave the message "server can't be found" for all sites. It turned out to be a firewall issue. For some reason McAfee decided to block it which is something it never did in the past. Anyway once it was unblocked there was no problem.

Caff asked the question earlier "I don't understand how the link could work if you couldn't acess the internet in the first place!!!". I expect the poster used Internet Explorer. In my case this was the first thing I checked to see if it was a problem with my connection or with Firefox.

Rainyday ,does the title of the thread not give you a clue? The version of firefox i had was out of date and the link car gave me updated it . I did it just as crunchie has said. thanks again.

My version was out of date earlier in the week but that didn't prevent me logging on to the internet, firefox just told me a new version was available, did I want to download it? When I started using firefox initially I had to "allow" it acess through Zone alarm, I still don't know how you could use a link if there was no internet available. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for your intrest caff, but i did not get a message saying a new version was available, just saying server cant be found. I then logged on to the net useing a normal connection without firefox, and as usual the good people at AAM sorted me out.

There is no need to be smart. In 20+ years in the IT industry, I never heard the phrase 'logging on' used to refer to a particular application, such as firefox. 'Logging on' invariably refers to a process of identifying yourself as an individual via some unique identifier (username or email address) and a password. That's why I asked the question.

Yeah, I'm with RainyDay on this one.

I used to work in tech support, and the incorrect use of technical terms could be very troubling. People "logging on" or "rebooting" when they mean totally different things...

Rainyday, I will bow to your superior IT experience and ment no harm,so please dont take any. Thanks again.
