Got in the region of 3-400 books, all types. SH book stores accept less and less so are the only options ebay or buyandsell? And if so what are peoples experiences of selling on the Irish online SH shops with low priced goods like books? Some of the books arent so low priced so Im nto worried about those, I know theyll shift so Im wondering what kind of response I d get if I put up 200 books tmrw on ebay at 1-2e each. Ive never sold on ebay before.

Please, no charity suggestions, my duties are done there.

Car boot sale? If you sold them in bales of 5 for a tenner you might shift them quicker?

Dublin Book Club (find them in Google) might be interested in taking a block of 100 books?

If you have anything in the holistic field, pm me with some titles, authors and condition. Ironically (!) I'm more into non fiction. Think I've left myself open for a ribbing here )

good suggestions Ger thanks.

There is a couple of holistics ones there but Id planned on keeping them in the, ahem, library for reference. Will go through the rest over the xmas period, if Im gonna move any of them I think would be of interest I'll certainly get back to you.

no chance getting a tenner for 5 books at the boots maybe 5 if your lucky

OP,

You could try adverts.ie

There's a link on the www.boards.ie website and a section that deals specifically in books. To post a comment is free though I think you may have to become a member of boards to do it. Supposedly if you're not logged into boards.ie, you can't see the adverts link.

Hae you tried The Secret Bookstore on Wicklow Street? There is another one at the top of Rathmines but that's about it. I've heard that Chapters make derisory offers for seconds.

I've found it's just not worth the hassle selling books on eBay. Most people dont want to pay the postage, and some books are heavier than others. I sold quite a few educational books but probably wont bother again because of the above reason.

Hiya,
Chapters definitely buy 2nd hand books - they only give you 1 or 2 Euro per book though

I sold a few books and had no problem. I put them on ebay.co.uk so the bids were in sterling even though I was sending them from Ireland and just made sure the postage costs were clearly advised.

dontaskme, yes that is where I sold my books as well, on UK eBay. There is a demand for Open University course books but because the course materials are so heavy it can cost £15 or more to post from here so now I dont bother.
