Evening all,

I have broadband with Perlico, when I am at home.

I have been told that when I bring my laptop with me to Tenerife, that i should be able to connect my laptop to the phone connection, in my timeshare apartment and access the internet!!!!!!!!!

Is this true,

How do I do it?

It won't be broadband if you connect the laptop to the phoneline - it will be dialup . . . with dial charges, etc . . . .

It is possible they meant you could connect to their broadband service (wireless or wrired router) but in that case whether it is stuck to a phone line or anything else wouldn't matter if you know what I mean.

I guess the fact that they mentioned the phone line means you are going to be dialing up and dialing costs money per second normally.

If Perlico told you this then get practical details from them. If your timeshare shark - I mean operator - told you this then also get practical details from them. And specifically ask for costs.

Unless the phoneline is broaband (e.g. DSL) enabled. Nothing to do with Perlico here though. Are Perlico telling you otherwise?

yes, but . . . unless the laptop comes with a DSL modem/router/pick your term all you will get out of it is a dial-tone.

You should have few options for connecting to internet.
You can connect using phone line from normal phone socket to your laptop modem post (RJ11)
You can connect a network patch lead from a network wall point or DSL router to your laptop ethernet port (RJ45).

How do you currently connect your laptop to your DSL?
Do you plug a network cable into to your laptop and then the other end to your DSL router/modem?
If so then bring this cable with you.
There may be shared internet facilities somewhere if not in your room.

Other option is if you have wireless adapter in your laptop then anywhere with open wireless network will aloow you access the internet.
Should work in airports and large hotels etc.

What about if you bring your bb modem with you to tenerif, the one that u were using with perlico?
Would that work?

No. Unless the line was broadband enabled and you reconfigured your router with the relevant ADSL login details for the service available on that line.
