Hi I am looking at booking a flight to kracow for weekend in march and am looking at flying out of shannon or cork. The flight from cork leaves at 10. 30pm and will only arrive in kracow at around 2 in the morning, has anyone any experience of this flight, will we get transport to our accomadation at this late hour. also does anyone know of good central hotel 3-4* mid priced. The cork flight would suit me better as it goes out late thur and returns monday and the one from shannon is going thur and returning tue which is longer than we had planned going for. thanks in advance for any replies

I haven't personal experience of that late flight but a group of us flew from Dublin to Krakow late last March. It was a daytime flight. We got a taxi to our city centre hotel (sorry I cant remember the name). For four of us plus luggage, the taxi cost €70. The journey was about 15 mins.
Maybe there is information on www.toandfromtheairport.org which will give you alternative information.
By the way, the weather was very pleasant during our three day stay, bright, sunny and mild. On the day we left, the snow was bucketing down!

70 euro seems very high for a 15min journey I will check the link you gave me , thanks

The trains don't start till 4.25 am from Balice Airport [broken link removed]

There are 2 bus routes 192 & 208 but they don't start till after 5am [broken link removed] so i think your only options are to - hire a car or get a taxi.

Can't help with the hotels part, stayed in apartments & hostels. You'll love Krakow, its a real nice lively & friendly city.

Forgot to add - The link at the airport site says 50 PLN for a trip into the city. [broken link removed] If its nay more than 70 PLN then just make a point to the Taxi driver that you're a regular visitor to Krakow & know it is usually around 50 PLN. OT: Some taxi in Warsaw tried to rip us off on a short trip to the main railway station - about a 1km. He tried to charge us 4-5 times the price. I had it out with him & told him i was'nt going to pay atourist price, he changed the price straight away!

Enjoy ur trip!

E-mail these guys who will organise a taxi for you on arrival -http://www.krakow-hotel-guide.com - they will have a guy with a board with your name on it in the arrivals hall, used them last year and it only cost us 22 euro each way for 4 adults and 2 children. Tell the driver what time to pick you up at your hotel for your return trip to the airport.

Radisson SAS is excellent - 5 mins to old town square by foot.

a TAXI AT THAT HOUR SHOULD COST BOUT 100 POLISH ZLOTY, bout 20-25 Euro. no more. like everywhere agree the price beforehand

Interesting. After luggage clearance and taxi/bus transfers would you not be better off not going to a hotel for the first night and saving the cost of a nights stay?

Terrible idea. Krakow is a small airport, so you will be in city centre within an hour of arriving - 3am. You will not be able to check-in anywhere until 2pm, so almost 12 hours stuck with bags not to mention being wrecked tired.

Hotels are cheap, should be able to get somewhere decent for 50/night. Check http://www.askaboutmoney.com//showthread.php?t=2309 for options. Takes about 25 mins taxi to town and costs about 15 euro. Good City.

thanks for all the replies and I will check out all of the above, I feel we will have to get a room the first night even though we will only arrive about 4am but we will have to get rid of our luggage so I will check them out thanks.

Who are you booking flight with I was there last weekend and went ex shannon and arrived 10am with Ryanair. Centralwings are now doing flights ex Cork and on a quick look all flights are in the afternoon. With regards to taxi I paid equivalent of E13 for 4 people and luggage for a taxi from the airport and E18 on the way back as it was the weekend ( this was organised by my hotel ) Hotel Kazimierz ( 20mins walk from main square ) very cheap and not a bad hotel. Saw other hotels that you could check out that were nearer things Hotel Floryan,Hotel Senacki & Hotel Europejski. I was very impressed by the city. Small airport only one duty free shop.

On a recent trip to Berlin I arrived very early at my hotel. The room wasn't ready but I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel and head off for a long and pleasant breakfast. A lot of hotels start serving breakfast from 6a.m.

I am looking at booking with central wings out of cork and flights in march are 10.30 pm .I would consider the ryanair from shannon but it only goes on thur and you cant return until tuesday and I want to return on monday so I am leaning towards booking out of cork, but I hate arriving so late now it looks like only option for 4 day trip

You still could fly out one way from Shannon and fly back into Cork. It all depends on where you are from and how you would be getting to the airport.
