Hi

We have just booked flights to go to dubai for 5 days at xmas. We are looking for advice on hotel.

My wife and i and 1 year old will be going, so looking for all the comforts and luxury but somthing that wil suit our son as well.

Looking for good gym , nice food , and a bit of luxury.

Has anyone been lately or can advise on hotel

Taj Palace in Dubai City and Royal Meridien Beach Resort.
Both 5* hotels, both excellent and worth every star.

No alcohol in the Taj Palace, but you can get a drink in the Meridien.

The Meredien has the better gym & spa facilities - in my opinion.

Jumeirah Beach Resort - went there with my 3 year old - absolutely brilliant.

My husband booked it so I'm afraid I don't know the cost but facilities were brilliant. Lots of water sports, gym, great kiddies pool area, 19 restaurants & free visit to Burj Al Arab as it's part of the same complex.

Hi Dingdong,

Can you tell me who you are flying with and where you booked the flights and how much they were? I would be interested in going to Dubai for christmas too but depends on availability and cost of flights. Thanks a mill.

Folks,

Just arrived back from Dubai last Sunday....Stayed with friends but The Jumeirah Beach Hotel complex (as mentioned in an earlier post) is excellent. Weather is gorgeous at this time of year, we were sitting by the Marina at 2 in the morning in 30 degrees with little or no humidity. To the other poster re; flights, I flew with Aer Lingus...approx €850 return for two of us but I had booked well in advance.

Thanks r2d2. I'd say you got a really good deal there. I dont expect such low prices from now to end Jan. Boy it sounds nice at that marina at 2am. Was there much disruption from construction in the area?

Not at all......Clearly you could see that there was lots of work going on but we weren't aware of any real noise no matter where we went...Also lots of road works but they seem to be much more clever than us at how they create new roads/bridges without disrupting the original infrastructure :(

What, a nation more clever than us at roadworks:eek:. Mabe they have no real national source of income and so are forced to be efficient at these things...Oh hang on a minute... they have oil...and still are careful with the nations money. I will really have to go now.
