Hi,
Can someone please tell me how I can connect a 2nd monitor to a P.C ,only problem is that the second monitor is in a reception area 3 floors down. (approx 250 feet cable distance)
I need the monitor to just show exactly what the monitor upstairs is.

The distance between to 2 monitors is causing me the problem as the P.C has 2 VGA Cards but a max of 50 metre cable is all i can find as any longer you loose quality.

Thanks.
L

You can get a wireless video sender normally good for 50 to 60 feet in any tv or electronics store.

You could maybe use software such as RealVNC (free) or something similar.

On the PC downstairs (we'll call it PC1), you log into the PC upstairs (PC2). PC1 can then see exactly what PC2 sees.

If the user on PC1 moves the mouse while logged into PC2, it also moves on PC2 etc. PC1 is really just seeing a screenshot of PC2.

Netmeeting and share desktop on the PC you want to view.
click on start\run and type in CONF and execute it.
If it works for me everyday for locations thousands of miles away it should work for you.

Otherwise if available use start\run MSTSC (microsoft terminal services)

or RealVNC.

Folks thanks for all your help and suggestions.

My problem is that a second p.c is not an option as client just wants a second monitor
downstairs (no box/p.c) thus realvnc or remote desktop not an option.
Does anyone know of a booster or appliance out there that will allow 2 monitors connected to 1 P.C showing exact same details with audio -with one of the monitors 3 floors away.

Go to blackbox.co.uk - there are several devices that will transport video signals over standard structured cabling, 250ft should be OK.

Also look at these: http://www.svideo.com/vgacat5.html

Blackbox are very very expensive but you will often find their stuff for half-nothing on eBay.
