Can someone recommend a good Univeral Remote?

I've never had one before, but I'm hearing negative things about how un-reliable most are.

I need it for a stereo, dvd, tv and ntl digital.

Thanks

Karl

Logitech Harmony 885 [broken link removed]

Hook it up to your computer, go onto their website and configure the devices and activities you want..it downloads to your remote.

You can try a test drive for many of the products to see what support there is for your products

I bought the [broken link removed] for the same purpose and found it does the job. €65 on Komplett

Not anything like as cool as the Logitech Harmony 885 but I bought a "Star" 8 way rc in the €2 shop (batteries included :) ) It works perfectly with a Panasonic TV, Panasonic DVD, NTL Box, Sony stereo, Mitsubishi TV and Samsung DVD. Comes with list of codes so not rocket science to set up.

Have to agree with crunchie there.I have two universal remotes, one from Aldi which has a learning function. It controls samsung lcd tv,lg hdd recorder, sony surround sound system. It hasn't been beaten yet!! The other remote I got in Lidl,it controls sony seperates system and samsung TV never been beaten either! Neither controls cost more than 8 euro.

I bought a Philips Pronto many years ago and they are great.
With PC software you can design your own button layout for the touch screen.
If you don't want to do your own you can download devices to control from a shared repository. The unit sits on a recharger stand.

I would go for one of the Logitech models myself - full list [broken link removed] - I have the 885 model and am very happy with it. They all (I think) have a Web interface where you can customise your setup and have a call centre where you can ring for help if you can't get the unit to work with some of your equipment.
...So to speak. :)

Aldi have this 8 in one for €9.99 on Thursday 23rd

Doesn't seem as configurable as the Logitech, from some quick googling.

Looks to be comparable to the One for All series, rather than the superior Logitech range.

Still, I suppose you can't go wrong for a tenner.
