We are going out looking for carpet at the weekend and I was wondering if anyone has had experience, positive or negative, of CarpetRight. Their stores are springing up all over the place and it would be handy to go there (presuming they stock something we like!) but haven't heard any reports.

we used astons in ashbourne and found the service gret damien is the chap there and his number is 8353585

We used Carpet Rite.... and found them very helpful. Go onto their website and source the discount aswell!!! It has lots of exclusions, but when we presented it, there was no quibbles and discount taken off!

One thing to do, is take advantage of their free measuring service!
We had slightly under measured one of our rooms, but the carpet layer was very nice, and he went back and got us a fresh cut! No cost to us!

My experience was a very good one!!!

I've bought carpet from them twice in the last two years, and they've been absolutely fine - decent prices, good fitters. Like any carpet place, they keep a relatively limited stock and a lot of samples: if you're getting anything they don't have on large rolls you can add a fortnight lead time - just something to bear in mind, not a complaint!

heres their website

Friend of mine also used them, very happy with carpet they got. Only thing she did say was that choice fairly limited and they just happened to see carpet in the colour they were looking for

I found them great. Got a lovely white carpet [only place I could find it]. Fitting service excellent also.

For their "free" measuring service you must pay a non-refundable 10% deposit on the carpet you've choosen.

I have been to many other carpet stores where free measuring meant exactly that...they would measure without obligation!!

hi, just as a continuing question on this thread, what is a good quality , low-average priced carpet to buy? I know navan carpet has a wonderful reputution but it is out of my price league.

I want something fairly plain which will look reasonable in 4-5 years when i hope to leave my house. I checked in Carpetright but the cost of a fitter made any decent carpet fairly expensive. I also went to TC Matthews today but the average carpet price of approx €20 was also subject to fitting.felting of €11 per sq.yard. Bargaintown have all in prices from about €11 sq.yard to about €35 sq. yard.
we already bought a carpet for €11/sq/yard for our stairs and its only down 2months and not wearing great.

So, what sort of carpet should i be looking for? What price can i expect to pay for the above carpet? what carpet companies would readers recommend?

thanks

I used Carpet Right and found them absolutely, utterly, 100% disastrous from start to finish.

Their customer 'service' is appalling - lost orders, claims that we never ordered anything, missed fitting dates, wrong carpets brought by the fitters one time, no grippers brought another time, etc. On the day things were finally in order (as a result of constant calls to remind them and urge them to double check their stocks and appointment book) the appointment to start fitting was agreed for 10am.

Fitters finally turned up at 8.30pm. Of course, they didn't bring any underlay, claiming there was no record of our order, despite us having ordered it at the same time as the carpet. Cue mad scramble ringing every fitter in Dublin, fitters disappear for an hour to retrieve what was in fairness a better underlay than the one we ordered, and finally left us at 11.15pm! Believe me, I could go on.

Google for problems with Carpet Right (something I should have done beforehand) - you'll find plenty of hits.

Bottom line - you may save a few bob on their carpets (although you get the quality you pay for, I am happy with the quality of mine) but they are the most chaotically disorganised people I have ever encountered.
