I never had to ask a question before on AAM always found the answer on one of the threads and have checked out the index but did not find my answer.
Is there a simple timer I can set up for my internet use as I have dial up.

Try [broken link removed] from download.com, there should be others too. remember to tick to search for freeware.

In the past I've used and [broken link removed] (along with some simple VBScript scripts that I wrote to record connections/disconnections in a format suitable for analysis using Excel - which I am happy to share if I can find them and anybody wants them etc.) in case that's of any use.

Mother of God Clubman I would need to do a Fas course to understand them I have very basic computer knowledge but thanks.

Slightly off-topic, but — as mentioned here, I've been using to control the amount of time my kids can use the computer/access the internet. However, the 15-day free trial is about to expire.

I know it's only a lousy $30  to buy it, but can anyone recommend a freeware alternative? I don't need fancy website monitoring/blocking options, I just want to limit the amount of time any given user account can access the internet (without having to physically remove and hide the router!)

I'm gussing that you've tried Google and are looking for specific recommendations based on first hand experience but ...

Yup, but nearly everything Google has thrown up — even with '-trial' inserted into the search thread — is free for a trial period only...

[broken link removed] one is $10 cheaper, at least! :D (and a 30-day trial instead of the usual 15)

I've tried that [broken link removed] — very handy for Maggie B's purpose, but it doesn't do quite what I'm looking for.
For those users who have set monthly dialup accounts where exceeding the time limit incurs additional charges, or if you are just curious as to how much time you spend online surfing. The program counts down, displaying the time left during the current month, automatically resetting at each new month (default) or any day, user set between the 1st and 28th.
What I need is something that lets me allocate each user a daily max — say, 1 hour PC usage, including 30 mins internet access, between specified hours (e.g. 9.00am ~ 9.00pm). Once that limit is reached, the user in question is logged out by the system, but other users can still log in (or remain logged in in the background), if they haven't exceeded the limit set for their account.

or you could use my link to it above.. ;)
I have tried to download that file but keep getting the message "page can not be displayed" perhaps its a error in my computer I have windows 98 but thanks

Clubman, I downloaded the file for intercent 99 you posted and saved it to disc but can't open it. I get the message "there is no programe assosiated with this file" I have only basic computer knowledge so may have done something wrong. It looks like the egg timer for me.
