Hope someone (anyone) can help.

I bought an mp3/mp4 player on ebay.
it has a few extras like movies, radio, games on it etc.
BUT the instructions are really really bad, I cannot understand them, they in broken English and not very detailed, it does work cos I've switched it on etc, but the disk they sent is not recognised on my pc, I have windows XP so am fairly up to date.
so basiclly I have no clue how to download my music on it...There is a usb cable with it, I plugged it in to the MP3 player in the hope that then info would appear, or bring to the right place but no...
and I'm not very technically minded..anyone got any ideas??
Thanks,
C

Hi, theres no brand name or serial number on it (is that bad?)

the ebay auction number is: 260030825006

thx

Did you connect [broken link removed] to your PC/laptop via the USB cable supplied? If so did you see a new "hard drive" appear in Windows Explorer/File Manager? If you did then you probably just copy the MP3 files over using Windows Explorer. Unless the player came with its own digital audio file management/sync software (which I doubt given the price).

I looked up that auction ID and buyer feedback.

There's something about it not quite right IMHO. A lot of the feedback is recent and logged at the rate of one per minute, or so.

I hope I'm wrong and that the product works out for you, but I would have avoided that seller.

It's an OEM product and probably very cheaply made in HK, so it's not too surprising that the instruction leaflet is poorly translated (I have one that warns: 'Aware to not fall the unit down on the ground!' :) ). As ClubMan says, just connecting it by USB to your computer should be enough for WinXP to recognise it as an 'USB storage device' or something, and enable you to drag-and-drop files onto it in Windows Explorer.

If not, try Start/Control Panel/Add Hardware and follow the wizard's instructions — first with the disc provided, then without. You shouldn't need to install any drivers under WinXP.

Really? I had terrible trouble trying to use OEM data cables bought on e-bay with Windows XP.

I don't know about data cables, CCOVICH, but any mp3 players, digicams or storage devices I've ever seen said that the drivers supplied on CD (or more often mini-CD) were only necessary with older OSs like Win 98/2000/Me — not XP. I'm open to correction, though!

Jaysus...should have just bought and ipod

I'll try all of the above and let you know, thanks for the posts anyway.
I cannot start going back to the gym without my music...any excuse!!
