Guys, I'm so annoyed...they have had years to prepare for this. Granted they don't have live rights to the matches themselves, but their coverage is apalling IMO....they could have done documentaries on the work/prep at the K club, interviews with our players and past players etc. Even the bbc have a program on tonight called "Ireland's Ryder Cup"...what do we have...diddly squat. Mucho peeved off tbh

Yes that is why I now have Sky Sports. Looking forward to ensconcing myself in front of the TV for the whole weekend!!!

You obviously weren't listening to the last 45mins of the morning news programme on RTE1 radio this morning.

The weather at the K-Club. The weather at Connolly. The weather at the park and ride in Naas. Will they play, won't they play? Are they "battoning down the hatches on the course"?

Insane!!! Thailand anyone? Bulgaria?

That Guardian article was great...a big golf fan but able to see the funny side all the same....love the attire of the yanks! The K club is the wrong course IMO but the last time they played the RC on a links in the UK was 79 I think so they can hardly criticise us!

tarfhead, that me me laugh too. Dont care if it pisses cats and dogs on them for the next 4 days.

I see that the BBC are highly uncomplimentary of the organisation down at the K Club this morning...

excellent, it only took him 3 paragraphs to get the obligatory BBC 'a night on the dark stuff' reference. By the end of the week I'm predicting he'll give us an 'irish eyes are smiling', 'touch of the blarney' and maybe even a 'luck of the irish'. Ah, the BBC, where would we be without them.....

Very good prog last night in BBC about the RC (albeit from a Northern slant), but very good all the same. When that was over Setanta had a good show. Then came TV3's Sports show which again was good...what did the muppets in Donnybrook have for us....ads for O2 and AIB..pathetic

I thought RTE's coverage of the 3 playing days was quite good. Bill-o was a usually solid anchor man and commentators Alex Haye, Shane O'Donoghoue et al were very knowledgable...

Obviously SKY SPORTS was where the action was but still thought RTE were a good option for the non SKY folk (myself included)... I just kept the head down on Sunday and avoided all news reports so that I could watch the RTE coverage 'Live'.

something the same as gianni. tried not to get the scores all day and totally enjoyed the coverage last night. watched it on the bbc as the times suited me better. I admit it enjoyed it all. would prefer if some of the spectators had ditched the tricolour in favour of the european flag though. imagine the English visitors waveing the UJ ever time one of their countrymen playing for europe had won a hole...... minor complaint in an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable event.

I was out there and saw plenty of spanish, scottish and swedish flags draped around spectators.
I was wondering, why do europe use the EU flag? I'm pretty sure that entry is not restricted to EU players only, I don't think we've had a non-EU player yet, but that's not to say we can't.

RTE's coverage of the Ryder Cup was in my opinion CRAP !!!

watched the "highlights" on friday evening and saturday evening hoping to see some quality golf, but all I saw was green after green after green, where was the tee shots, fairway shots, bunker shots???? They seemed to have just concentrated on green coverage and thats all !! not impressed at all..

Bill O'Herlihy is not a Golf competition presenter and it showed.. I know we live in a small country but why do we have the same presenters and commentators for everything ???

BBC's coverage was a little better and only got to watch Sky's live coverage yesterday. Brilliant is the only word i would use

Glenbhoy: we have no problem with scottish, welsh, danish etc but boy do we have a problem with the UJ. which is silly in this day and age. However it is US versus Europe so national flags should have no revelance, Dont know of any golfers from outside the EU who have played in the tournament to date but again it shouldn't be an obstacle to play for europe. dont know the rules though.
