Hi lads does any one know the cost of getting cctv installed,i need four cameras and i want it to record so maybe a digital recorder and a viewing monitor.
 
Hi nutter. I priced one today from a number of different suppliers who will sell you the gear directly. The equipment including a good hard drive recorder, 4 colour internal cameras and a monitor will cost you about 2,800 including vat. The cabling would be fairly reasonable. depending on the cameras actually picked about € 100 per camera at the outside. If you are not into DIY shop around a lot, there are a lot of wafflers in the CCTV business and do not buy unless you are very happy with the system.
 
You can get cheap [broken link removed] solutions that offer some pretty advanced features now. Anyone installing CCTV or alarm systems must be licensed under the PSA due to the Private Security Services Act 2004.

Crikey i hope that's gold-plated equipment for that price! (or do you mean that price to include installation?)

A decent 250gb independent HD recorder should cost not more than €500 and indeed a variety of outdoor cameras for less than €100 each.

A 4 way recorder for that price would be a load of crap!

4 colour internal cameras and a monitor for about 2,800 including vat is a very reasonable price.
When the new PSA regulations are in place, restricting who can install this type of equipment, the prices are sure to take a big jump.

Any chance you could elaborate on that (perhaps without the colourful language?), i.e. what specs you expect from such a device.

And for a home installation there's certainly nothing difficult enough about this kind of system that would put it beyond someone with a little diy experience. Close to 3 grand is preposterous for something like this.
 
Its very hard to go into a lot of it in a post here.
Partly it would not be a reliable make.
They would probobly not be using HDDs designed for 24hour use
Images per second is another thing to look at, something like that would probobly give you 25-50 , A professional system would give you up to 400.
Does it have a CD/DVD rewriter? CCTV images written using external devices or across a network are not admissible as evidence in a court.
If the new PSA regulations go to plan DIY jobs with stuff like this & alarms will be illegal.

We install IC Realtimme Security Products in all of our stores in Cork, they are based in East Gate Little Island and offer some very good package deals for self installation which come with every thing eg. cables power supplies brackets. the internet quailty is also very good from the DVRs
