Hi,

Is there a place where I can safely dispose off polystyrene packaging material in S.Dublin/N.wicklow area other than going to the Ballyogan Recycling Centre? All local recycling centre near my house don't accept polystyrene!

Thanks

I had a similar issue last year ... I don't think you can recycle polystyrene and Ballyogan wouldn't accept it. I was told to put it out with the regular rubbish for collection by the binmen ... I suppose it depends on how much you have to get rid of. I ended up getting rid of it over 2-3 weeks thru' normal bin collection.

Yes...that stuff needs to be disposed with your general household rubbish

Polystyrene can be recycled using high pressure steam to melt it back into solid blocks. I came across this system being used in an industrial estate in the Philippines to handle large volumes of packaging waste from the various factories. I have never heard of anyone doing it here.
