Best roof for garden conservatory?

I am working on a conservatory with the brother in law and he wants to use perspex sheeting for the roof.
Is there a high grade perspex that reduces the sound of rain and is it possible to get it in a tint to also reduce (when we have it) sun glare.
We we're going to use glass but need to cut into certin angles so thought perspex would be the best option but have only seen cheaper versions of perspex in Dublin..
Any suggestions?
many thanks

For less maintenance I'd go with a tiled roof there will still be plenty of light coming in from all the other windows, the glass and perspex roofs get very dirty looking and require regular washing to keep them looking good.

Good Luck ;)

A nice pine ceiling inside looks really well in a conservatory

We have perspex on ours and you are right-it does look dirty. I don't think anyone but ourselves notices that though.

It also makes for an unpleasantly hot room on warm sunny days. However, on the (very many) days we get which are sunny but cold, it works a treat to make the most of the radiant heat from the sun. You don't get that to the same extent with other roof coverings and might be walking yourself into a bigger heating bill, or a room that is less pleasant to use.

You might get to like the sound of the rain on it ;-)

B&Q, and I'm sure most builders providers, stock a polycarbonate sheeting product which offers some insulation properties.
