Can anyone advise me. I received a parking fine for
parking in a loading bay on the 30th June. I only found this out today
I rang the office as I didnt recall this and didnt get any written notification on the day or prior to today. She has just advised me that they are not issuing the parking fines on the spot anymore.Has anyone heard of this?

Yep
In Cork you now just get it in the post. Its a bit of a disgrace really that there is no docket left on the car.
The warden now just punches your number into their handheld and legs it!!!Mind you half the wardens in Cork thing that they are Guards anyway!!!!!!!

thats right. Got stung myself for illegally parking in swords village. No notification needed anymore. Just a letter stating date, time, place, offense, penalty etc.

As i understand, the idea is to stamp out public confrontations with wardens etc so now your reg is taken down and ta da!!...you've got a fine in the post.

I wonder what will happen when people start to argue that they were somewhere else at the date and time

Thanks!! They have just informed me now that they will send me the
evidence!! The pictures!! Won't be making that mistake again.

Years ago I got a parking fine through the post saying that I had illegally parked in Abbey Street (before the luas existed). I knew that I never parked on a street in town (always a multistorey) and rang up the parking fine office only to be told "Yes ....they all say that"
I continued protesting my innocence so the person read out the reg of my car which was correct then the make, model and colour which were completely different. Obviously the warden put the reg down wrong. I never heard from them again.

It is a bit unfair that you are not informed at the time becuase if you genuinely think you have been treated harshly at least you can do something about at the time

How is parking on a loading bay and being fined for same being treated unfairly?

Unless they are genuine causes for complaint (e.g. mistaken identity, as referred to by SandraD above) I don't see what the issue is and why you need to be notified at the time.

I don't know if it is any different to being caught by fixed camera and issued a penalty in the post several weeks later.

Now dont be bringing logic into this..... this thread is all about the feelgood factor of getting a load off your chest at the time of the event.

Kayla21 as far as I know, personal experience going back to last year, My self and a mate both got parking fines, Both of ours ran out of time by around 7 mins, There was a note left on both our screens however when you are caught with the company that did the fines in our town they had only 30 days to get the fine out to us from date caught. He got away with it I did not. I think legally 30 days was a reasonable time to get the fine out after that they could do nothing. Might be worth ringing your local county council who the parking company have to work for and see what they say. They could be chancing there arm.
