Irish Drivers Assoc+VRT

Anyone see the report on RTE news this evening about a protest held by the Irish Drivers Association against VRT.Missed the beginning of it and dont know who they are but I for one tend to forget about the ripoff that is VRT.An example given was a new Honda Jazz in Derry-drive away for £8500 stg.A few miles away in Donegal-I missed the figure but its substantially more.It really is crazy.
This Association is threatening to put up 2 candidates in the next Gen Election if the Government dont take heed.
I for one tend to forget about this issue until I am reminded by a report like this.

A 2.0 liter car is 30% dearer VRT only.

The sneaky thing is Vrt is calculated on the Car price including VAT.
Tax on a tax.

It's also calculated on the car price including VRT. VRT on VRT! (I'm still battling this out and will post back with more info as and when I get it).
