Hi , Has anyone had a dyson hoover repaired in Cork city , The switch is not working on our one , I can not find the warranty and it may be a quick fix rather than having to pay out another 550.00 euro , Thank you in advance for any advice .

Dyson and Hoover are different brands of vacuum cleaners.

Assuming it's a Dyson vacuum, call them. The serial number will give the approx sale date. Or if you paid by card, the card or bank statement will suffice as proof of purchase.

If it's a manufacturing defect it should be covered for at least 2 years and up to 6.

You don't need the "warranty" to get it fixed. Your statutory rights as a consumer are far better.

Try the appliances repair place on Hanover Street, Cork. They’re good if they can get the spare part (and usually they can).

It's pretty obvious that the original poster was using "hoover" in the generic sense to refer to a vacuum cleaner, in this case a Dyson branded one. Like someone (maybe an American) using "Xerox" to refer to some generic brand of photocopier.

Although it still says "Dyson hoover repairs ...."!

Anyway, for what it's worth: we had a problem with our Dyson vacuum cleaner a couple of years ago; so we contacted their service dept who arranged to collect it, repair and return it to our address for €90.

Is it the fill Dyson vacuum - or the stick type? My Dyson V8 had an issue with the housing around the switch area - I was able to buy that part direct from Dyson and replace it - was very easy and relatively cheap to do so. The handhelds are modular and parts can be bought from the website.
