Hi all,

I have opened an account with Degiro, I am new to investing and I have a couple of questions

My goal is investing in ETFs domiciled in US

Quick questions:
  • how do you know the country of domicile of the ETF? By checking the first digits of the ISIN?
  • I don't see the fund expense ratio information in Degiro. Do you get that information outside Degiro?
  • What does the share category mean? A...I
  • At what stage do you fill the US tax form (W-8BEN)?

Thanks for your help

In case it helps,

The first 2 digits give you the country of issue of the fund
A:I are the risk categores

Still investigating How to get the ER info in Degiro, and when to fill the US tax form

Just Google ETF name and view its documentation to get country of domicile, TER etc. Degiro I'd an execution-only broker. They don't provide this information.
Email customer service and they attach US form to your account for completion then.

Thanks!

Say, you are buying ishares, and the ER = 0.5%
Do you pay ishares directly? Or you pay Degiro who then pays ishares?

Cheers

TER is taken out at source by the fund. That's all handled for you. You just pay transaction fees when you but the units. This is charged by Degiro at purchase time.
