Can anyone tell me if I want to increase my mortgage term (of an existing mortgage) would I have to get a solicitor involved?

No you wouldn't. The lender can do this for you.

Brendan

I was thinking that too, but the banks sales guys was thinking that it might require a solicitor as the deed would be stamped with the earlier end date. Ill get them to double check anyway thanks.

Assuming your lender can do this for you, bear in mind they will probably insist on a new mortgage protection policy for the longer term.

If you are young with no health issues, the additional cost might not be much, if you are a lot older and / or have any health problems, then the additional cost might be significant.
