Anyone read the article in property section of Sunday Business Post today about these guys? They are "Home Sellers International" and are selling self storage units to investors, which are then rented out to tenants to store stuff, as far as I can see. The units retail at circa €5K.

The article purports a capital appreciation as well as a guaranteed 8% net return. I have no idea how they are guaranteeing the 8% return. Sounds like a bit of "Too good to be true to me", but the fact that it was given a half page spread in the Business Post makes me curious.

Anyone know anything about this?

Don't believe everything you read in the papers. ;)

I echo what Brendan said, who is guaranteeing the 8%?

There is a huge amount of empty warehouses around the country and there isn't the demand to meet the supply, so the cost of storage is very low. I find it difficult to believe that they can offer an 8% guarantee and still make a profit.

Remember, risk and return. You are buying into storage space, which is a low cost market = high risk investment. Therefore you should be getting a higher return than that. The fact that they are offering a guarantee makes me suspicious.

Oh well, kinda puts my faith the the quality of the Business Post into context then. Moved from SIndo to Times to Post. Now what to read on a Sunday....!

Didn't they have an article from a tracker bond company recently as well? They are probably paid features, just another form of advertising. It's not as if newspapers can turn down people willing to pay for a 1/2 or full page ad these days.
