licence query

Hi,

My mam lives in a remote area and needs to use a public road, more of a boreen, to get to a bus stop. She is nearly 80 and cannot walk the mile and a half any more. She has no licence and wouldn't be up to getting one.
What are her options as regards getting some sort of electric buggy? Would a test be required?
I have been on the NDLS site and it's not that clear; apparently an AM licence is required for a "light quadricycle" - I was thinking of getting her some sort of golf buggy.

Any help welcome.

You don't need a licence for golf buggy. Your problem with a golf buggy is trying to insure it.

Also once she drives to the bus stop what does she do with the golf buggy? Park it up until she comes back?? Mobility scooter may be your better option here!
 
Sorry about the title. I've tried to edit it but cannot. I can only edit content.

Thanks peteb. She could park it at near the bus stop at a Parish Hall. I didn't know golf buggys had to be insured. A scooter may be an option - I'll look into it but it would have to be 3 or 4 wheel and rainproof. Would it need a licence or Learner Permit?

Mobility scooter could be the way to go... no insurance or license needed it seems: [broken link removed]

Is the boreen free of potholes and bumpy patches?? A mobility scooter is grand for footpaths and very smooth surfaces but the typically Irish boreen is anything but...
