police interview transcript

Does anyone know if an individual would have a right to obtaining a transcript of a police interview, if so how would they go about obtaining that, and are there time limitations applied to that? (19 years)

thanks for the reply, its possible parts of the law there are similar to ours...so i,ll stick around and see if something comes along, besides its more hassle joining up to another site.
