Anyone used online divorce sites?

I've seen some websites offering divorces in Ireland for about €500. Has anyone used any of these sites/services and have any advice to offer? Are they any good? Thanks

You can buy a book for a few euro on how to do it yourself, only works for fierce simple cases, most of those cheap ads just help you fill the forms which might be worth it if you are no good at filling forms. Again thought it would want to be an awful straightforward case, preferably no kids property or any assets, even then it's risky.

I am sure the solicitors among us are having chest pains just thinking about the diy route :)

Hi,

Your previous quite old thread appears to have received some helpful info although not specifically related to those links that you show above.

Perhaps some of the stuff on Google might help. I haven't had a read through the other older threads on AAM as shown on the Google link so might be worth your while to read through those.

I didn't. I suppose I assumed that would run into thousands. I looked at some web sites for family law solicitors and on the subject of fees the general approach seems to be "Well it depends.." which could mean anything. But I'm beginning to think I should ask around. I don't suppose you have any idea what the costs might be?

No idea how much it costs, but most solicitors do an initial consultation for free. I suggest you get a family recommonedation for a good solicitor andmake an appointment, clarifying that initial consoltation is free. Bring your full details with you in writing, making less work for the solicitor. That would be your marriage cert, why you are divorcing, list of assets, both your salaries etc. (That's what I'd imagine is needed). Then you ask how much. If it's too expensive, say so and maybe they'll negotiate. If it's very simple I don't see why it would be very costly but maybe there's a lot of work involved.

As far as I can recall from reading previous posts on AAM it is best to agreed the sum in writing.
