Have booked flights to Malaga for myself & other half for 2nd week in Sept for 10 days. Any suggestions for booking an apartment/aparthotel on the Costa?
Want a place which is near the beach, restaurants, bars - over fifties but not quite doting yet, so would like a bit of nightlife! Suggestions about location would be very welcome.
Maybe 7 nights in a resort & last 3 nights in the city of Malaga itself?

we're going to nerja which is about 45 mins from malaga, haven't been there before but heard great things about it from friends who have been there before!

hi harry31,

we've been to san pedro de alcantara near malaga for the last 2 summers and it was great. we booked flights only and had an apartment booked from daft.ie. the beach isn't fabulous there (bit stony) but there is better ones nearby (name escapes me). san pedro is a lovely little down. didn't explore the nitelife much as we had 4 kids with us! plenty restaurants and bars. we loved it anyway.

Can certainly recomend Nerja. Lovely resort with hundreds of restaurants to choose from ,great value , lovely beaches and very safe.
It appeals to the more mature traveller but is also great for families. It would not generally be a haunt for the hen/stag /lager lout brigade.

harry 31 ,, when you land in malaga airport there is a train station a 1 minute from the exit . this train goes from central malaga and through the airport stopping at the following well known resorts,, - torremolinos- benalmadena and finally its terminus fuengirola , in between it stops at other less known resorts and they all have good beaches and restraunts/pubs etc. if you stay outside the train zone you will incur extra costs like taxis etc particularly if you have a late flight home , the only drawback with the train is its operating hours the last train from the airport in the direction of the resorts i mentioned is 20 to 11 . in the daytime its very handy and reasonable to get from resort to resort for markets etc and to see the resorts for what they are . there are lots of agencies who let apts and there are lot of owners who also let . if you decide on a resort just google apts in ------ and you will have no problem getting a place to stay particularly in september.

Booked the flights with aer lingus & booked an apartment thru homeaway.co.uk for 7 nights in Benalmadena & 3 night Malaga city - looking forward to a bit of sun the next couple of weeks! Thanks for all the comments & advice - it will be stored away & hopefully put to good use in the future.

Stayed at the Hotel Alya in Benalmadena 2 years ago. Superb. Great location, right across the raod from the beach. Overlooking the fabulous marina with all the quaint shops and resturants. Food in the hotel was outstanding. Dinner menu simple but very tasty.
