Inflation Over a Fixed Period

Is there any easy way to work out what the total inflation was over a fixed period, say the last 10 years?

We've just had our annual pension update and our fund increased by a sterling 2.6% over 10 years.

Does my question make sense?

Thanks

From December 2001 to the end of 2011 prices have risen by 22.5%. [broken link removed].

Perfect - thanks.

Be great if that page was dynamic and let you enter your own base year.

It's easy to change the base of the series to one that suits you. Just express each index number in the series as a percentage of the value of the index number in the new base year that you select eg if you want 2005 to be the base year the value of the index for 2011 would be 122.5 divided by 111.3 multiplied by 100 which is 110.06 which means prices have increased by about 10% form 2005 to 2011.

Ha, of course - thank you demoivre!
