One the news at one on RTE radio, their business editor said "petrol prices are continuing to fall". I think he said the price of a barrel of oil is now $105.
I have not noticed any drop in the price of petrol when filling up the car the past couple of weeks.
Sounds like these price decreases are not being passed on.

I've noticed the price drop in Cork alright. On the South Link Road, it's down to 146.99c per litre at present.

Nope, not so you'd notice. Price is around 1.49 -1.53 Dublin city. Those lads in Cork are creaming it at 1.46 I suppose now Cork is a Royal City, they get a QEII discount from their British mates. There really should be a "culchie" tax brought inas well as one for the for those Royalists in Cork. :D

Yip...there's no doubting how good we have it down here ;). I dunno why we even need cars to be honest, being in God's country and all...sure where would we be going to :D

A drop in the price of crude oil takes weeks to show up at the pumps as it takes weeks for the crude to be refined and distributed.

Mind you, I am not defending the petrol retailers. It may be the case that
they are not passing on the decrease, but it may be too early to tell,

I heard Conor Faughnan of the AA on the radio about this a few months ago.
He said that they charted the price of crude oil and the average retail price of petrol over a couple of years and there was a direct correlation.
They found no evidence of price decreases not being passed on.

I must see if I can find the report on the AA website.

T'is all bullcrap.

Where I am prices at the pumps change on a daily basis. If they can do it here, it can be done in Ireland.

Yet another reason why I left.

On a bit of a tour of the countryside at this week but got the fill of diesel for 1.37 in Castleblayney the other night and a petrol attendant !!

And fair dues to him, I told him fill the tank and after 200 miles the dial has not moved.

Correction. It's actually 145.99c. I just filled the car. Life gets better and better in Cork!

I hope all those cents you're saving are going in the poor box Lex? Or are ye loyalists saving up for a large union jack* to fly over city hall? :p

*Purple I know it's only a Union Jack if it's on a ship, but if I call it a Union flag nobody will know what I'm talking about, and we'll miss a chance to slag the Corkonians. :D

Don't mind him..

"It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag".

In Carlow, diesel prices dropped a fair amount a few weeks ago but went up overnight by a few cents.

I had a Toyota Yaris hire car (don't laugh!) in Johannesburg and i filled it up (well, not full exactly!) near O R Tambo airport yesterday morning for about €18.... Think cost of diesel there came in about €1.09 per litre. In Nairobi now and will be looking at proces here. Wonder if i could fill a few cans up and bring them back with me?! :D

I filled the tank today for 144.99c per litre. :)

But that was with a Superquinn voucher worth 5c per litre. Mind you, the price per litre was 2c dearer than elsewhere but was the only place taking the voucher, so I'm 3c better off per litre.

Diesel is a lot cheaper at the moment.

Its such a rip-off - so much of that is government tax.

I've started to walk everywhere or cycle for the longer trips.

Feeling fitter, more in the pocket and its a gesture to the oil barons.

ONQ.
