Hi all,

I was wondering if you could help with the following:

I am hoping to take a week away with my mum around this time.

What we are looking for is:-

  • Lots of sun - both love very hot weather
  • good 4 star hotel
  • resort with plenty to do - shops, bars, restaurants etc
  • really nice sandy beach
  • Boat trips & other things to dp
I am in my 30's and my mum is 70. She walks with a walking frame so we have to be central, beside beach and shops etc and not lots of steps.

A lady she knows is just back from Sunny beach/Black sea Bulgaria and really liked it. I have seen a lovely hotel online with great reviews but the resort itself has very mixed reviews - any opinions on this place?

Or any other nice places?

Thanks so much for your help x

Off the top of my head, Dubrovnik. We went at this time of year and it was lovely.

  • Lots of sun - both love very hot weather
Weather was fantastic when we were there last September.
  • good 4 star hotel
Plenty of hotels. Go to Trip Advisor and read the reviews and choose from there.
  • resort with plenty to do - shops, bars, restaurants etc
Lots of tourist bars, old town has a lot of cute shops 3 Irish Bars. Great fish resturaunts.
  • really nice sandy beach
Some nice beaches there, set up for lounging about.
  • Boat trips & other things to dp
Loads of island hopping! Museums, walks etc.

It's kinda of a mix between and sun holiday and a sight seeing holiday. The old Town is amazing, all pedestrianised and then there is the areas outside of that which would cater to cathing a tan and relaxing.

Dubrovnik is bowl shaped (Old Town) so very hilly. Walking in and out of Dubrovnik is also hilly.

Anywhere else guys??

Mum can only do a few steps and can't walk far so that doesn't sound like an option... :(

I have never been to Sunny Beach but I hear it does what it says on tin. I would heed the personal recommendation on that and chance it. Otherwise I would recommend Lanzarote, La Costa(s) Hotel in Puerto del Carmen is highly recommended by my sister. Beside beach and shops, bars and restaurants and not hilly. Vilamoura in Portugal also very nice, try Vila Gale Ampalius hotel, centre of town at the marina. Slim

Thanks Slim but weve both already been in Lanzarote and whilst I loved it mum didn't - the wind, black sane etc..lol

Someone in work just mentioned Maspalomas or Los Cristianos...any reviews on either of these places?

Personally Id love to go to Croatia but as its hilly, I'll have to go there another time..lol

Thx :)

Haha, would love Dubai (on my own able to run around) with heaps of spending money! ;) not with my mum in a walking frame!! lol

How about here? Its right on the beach, loads of bars restaurants and shops just outside, plenty of bus routes within spitting distance. Havent been, but comes well reccommended from 3 different sources with different family needs. Fly to Malaga.

How hot does it need to be? If you want warm weather and a convivial atmosphere, go to the Algarve.
