Anville drive, Kilmacud: Any opinions on this area?

I grew up around there, lots of old fogeys there now, not that convenient for public transport (long walk to the Luas) and bus routes aren't great (unless you walk down to Stillorgan S.C. and get the 46A). I'ts near Dale Road, not a pleasant looking area.

I dont know the exact location but its generally a nice area....expensive as well I'd imagine one of the better places I would have thought for avoiding the worst of the property falls long term but as I dont know the exact road I couldnt comment on exact location I assume its not too far from the Goat pub, etc. Nice safe area for bringing up family, etc. or anything like that and a quiet life I'd say...

I live in the area and there are a lot of young families (mine included) around, the 47 runs past the church into town frequently during rush hour, and the LUAS is only about 10 minutes walk. I don't know what's unpleasant about Dale Road? The houses are a bit boring on the outside, but I wouldn't go so far as to say unpleasant.

that 47 bus is not that frequent and a nightmare to catch on the way home (if you do indeed have the patience to wait for it). An awful lot of people in this area are old people (cos executor sales are commonplace here). It's more than 10 mins walk to the luas stop and dale road area is (how can I put it, like Lakelands estate a black cloud over it for no obvious reason, u just feel it when you're there)

Thanks everyone for all the replies! Walked to luas stop today, took 13 min, so happy days !

I guess opinions vary. I walk down Dale Road almost daily, and never feel a black cloud. And for each executor sale, usually a young family moves in and does up the house. I have a retired widow living on one side of me, and a family with two young kids on the other, and find the area to have a great mix of people who are always extremely helpful.

Fiona, glad to see the LUAS is an acceptable distance for you!
