doctors and being relative

hi all
im in a weird position and not sure what to do ive just find out my doctor ive been seeing for years is related to my unborn baby
does that mean she shouldnt be treating me anymore as she doesnt know that this baby is related to her
 
This is a strange question. There is no reason why a doctor who is a relation to you or the chhild cannot treat you. Is there a particular reason you cannot tell the doctor the child is related to her? It's better to be open and honest with your doctor.
 
So the father of your child is related to your doctor.
So the child is a relative of the doctor.

A doctor is not supposed to treat family members, in case their judgment is impaired by emotion. If the doctor does not know that she is related to the child, then her judgment won't be impaired.

I don't think that it is an issue.

If the father wants to keep his identity confidential and you agree with that, then you should not tell the doctor.

thank you me and baby's father are having a few personal issues and only a hand full of people know about us at mo i cant see him sticking around as his been different since i got pregnant sometimes i feel i should say something to doctor about baby and other times i feel i dont need too i dont want to change doctors as my doctor is a good doctor but it feels weird in another way that she dont know

I'd be inclined to switch doctors. Talk to other expectant ladies in the area to find a good replacement. The risk of possible emotional complications down the line is too great. You can't be 100% sure that the guy won't let the news out to his family at some stage. Better to change doctors now at an early stage in a planned, sensible way than to be faced with a big soap-opera drama a couple of weeks before the birth.

I get the impression that the baby's father is quite a near relative to the doctor possible a son or grandson in which case you should seriously consider changing to a new GP practice.
 
his a nephew to the doctor and yes i think i may change doctors as i dont want a drama
 
Important thing is take good care of yourself and baby and go with what you feel comfortable doing.
