Are mobile phones/smart phones/digital cameras/hand scanners/video camcorders barred from the poling booths?

It strikes me that they should as it would be so easy to sell your vote by videoing it and sending it/showing it to the the purchaser as proof.

This is the reason why no one else can accompany you into the privacy of the polling booth.

What is the legislation in other juristictions?

I don't think there is any legislation. Seems like something that might be impossible to enforce.

It is enforced in other juristictions.

If some one records his vote electronically it becomes a very easy matter to sell it. Effectively it violated the secrecy of the pooling booth as it invites people to look over your shoulder as you vote.

We have a great hisory of buying votes and elections in Ireland. Think Bertie Ahern Fianna Fail in 2007.

I understand the issue. I'm just not sure how you stop somebody from wearing something like this camera on their clothing? Do we need metal detectors at every polling station?
