Can anyone tell me where I might buy a cordless phobne, from a shop, where I can see and hold the phone. I bought my last one online and it was a flimsey piece of junk. I am looking for a real shop, southside, I am in Rathfarnham.

The likes of Harvey Normans have quite a selection, I was looking at them in Carrickmines on the weekend!

Also got one recently in Harvey Normans. They have a branch in the new(ish) centre in Nutgrove - beside Aldi.

I got a nice panasonic one in argos a few weeks ago, you could always return it if you did'nt like it there

We got an Eircom phone in Harvey Normans a few years ago. We had one problem. It knocked out our broadband router.

Problem resolved by moving the "router" to another room.

If you have a satellite box, suggest you keep phone & box at least 5m apart.

All going well now.

Harvey Normans have this 4-pack on special

While you're in Nutgrove you could pop over to Argos as they have a few options too, this cheap "Argos" model

This Belkin one

Or this Panasonic one

Anyone got recommendations for any of them?

is there such a thing as a bog standard cordless phone that doesn't require a power source ie electrical wall plug. i don't want a digital display one or anything - just a basic unit. remember the phones that everyone had years ago - the only thing you needed was the phone socket. i'm looking for something like that where the handset can be removed from the device. does such a thing exist?

majee

We got ours in DID Electrical.....

Very satisfied, and nothing but praise for the knowledgeable staff....

Majee, as far as I know, all cordless phones need a power source... I'm open to correction, though....

They will get one out of the warehouse for you to have a look at before you buy, if you ask nicely. However, it will be in the box, so I'm not sure if this will help the OP too much

Yes and No.

Any set that I've seen has at least one power source. However, you can locate this phone anywhere in the house. So you could have the powered one upstairs anywhere there is a plug free, and have the other ones downstairs.

If you go to Customer Service preferably when they are not very busy and ask them to view the item before purchasing they will even open the box and let you look at the item. I've done this many times and they have always been very pleasant and helpful when dealing with request.
