Taxing "new" car for the first time

Just got the reg cert back for our "new" car (05 Avensis).How do I go about taxing it without having to go into the motor tax office in the Co. Co. Buildings?? Dreading the traffic 'round town for Christmas! Tried ringing them,but could get no answer. Thanks!

Send in the cert, insurance and a completed tax form with a cheque and you're covered until the disc arrives. Keep proof of posting to show gardai if stopped. Slim
