We have just moved house and our cat is not himself- not sure if he misses our old house but want to be sure he's okay. Can anyone recommend a vet in D2/D4/D6 - preferably one who likes cats!
Thanks in advance:)

We used to go to one on Charlemount St... just over the bridge on the left hand side. He was very good with our dogs.

It's anout 6 years since we used him so couldn't say if he's still there.

I believe there's one in Sandymount also - sorry can't remember the name, but they sounded very nice when I rang them, didn't use them in the end though so can't comment any further.

Again it's been several years since I used them, but I have to second this recommendation, especially for cats.

When I had moved from one side of Dublin to the other I used to still make the 40 min drive to them and only stopped using them when I moved to a different part of the country.

Their details are Animal Welfare Veterinary Hospital, 40 Charlemont Street, Dublin 2, phone 01 6714303.

Cats are very independent and habitual creatures. It will take your cat some time to get used to their new surroundings. I can only advise you to keep them enclosed for the first week or so, maybe more so that they do not take off in search of the old home and get lost. This will also give them time to get used to their new surroundings.

When I was younger we moved, our cat wandered off in the first week and we searched high and low around our new area. A few days later an old neighbour called my mother and said the cat was at our old house.

We moved house recently with our cat, this cat who lived with us at the previous house for 10 years has made the journey back 4 times on his own (about a mile walk).

We finally kept him in for 3 weeks in the new house and he's stopped doing it....

Cats are mental!
