Hot Water Question....

Hi,

Built a house just over two years ago. We have never had hot water. Our plumbing system is perfect, never had a problem. I guess we've always done without hot water as both of us are always on the go. Is it possible maybe a valve needs to be opened or a switch turned? It must be something simple but I don't want to start messing with something I know nothing about!!

Are you serious:D Can you describe the plumbing/heating system you have.

Admire your honesty. How do you live and wash without Hot water ? Are you sure you are always on the go or are other persons on the go running away from you. If you have only noticed this problem now, suggest you find a plumber as the invisible man does not do invisible plumbing problems on AAM.

Comedians the lot of ye!! Let me explain. We have oil fired central heating. The immersion works perfectly as does the central heating. Could I also point out I, my partner and my child shower every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honest!!

What I should have said was when we have the heating on we never get hot water from it.

Any ideas?

There may be a closed zone valve on your hot water circuit from the oil boiler central heating.(used in conjunction with the central heating timer)
There may be an air lock on the pipework between the boiler and HW cylinder.
Your system may need balancing due to short circuiting problems.
The heat exchanger(coil) in the HW cylinder may be damaged/crimped.
Try turning off all the radiators and see if there is circulation through the coil in the HW cylinder.

As above post but did you ever have hot water from the heating system, if not maybe its plumbed to only heat the rads and not the water.

Take a look at the immersion tank, are the pipes marked as "water from boiler" in this picture connected up? Is there a valve on either of these two pipes?
